BAVPA Dancers Among Us

At home without access to our traditional studios & performance spaces, our dancers strove to still showcase their skill, technique, & professionalism. We were inspired by the work of photographer Jordan Matters, most specifically by his photo series & book titled – “Dancers Among Us” - https://www.dancersamongus.com/ . Taking this as a template, our dancers set out to capture & present themselves executing their extraordinary talents in ordinary settings & situations of their choosing. They then paired their photos with critique & commentary of Matter’s work that they felt best embodied their efforts. This led to additional exercises in creativity, composition, and critical thinking. And as usual, our students brought a distinctly BAVPA punch of personality to the project. #Dance
