20471120: A Deep Dive into Clothing

Founded by Masahiro Nakagawa and Azechi LICA in 1993, the avant-garde pieces seem to make models look as if they stepped out of a UFO from the year 3000. The brand is also reminiscent of my favorite brand, Walter Van Beirendonck.

Most recognizable from their mascot, HYOMA, which was an icon for most young people in the streets of Harajuku in the late 90s. You've probably seen a piece from them or HYOMA if you have read a FRUiTS magazine or KERA (formerly known as KERAOUC) magazine from the years 1997-2001.

Their most standout collection to me is F/W 1999. Having models wear alien masks which matched the gray abstract clothing they were styled in with gelled spiky hair. The overall hair and make-up complemented the avant-garde silhouettes with orange, red, turquoise for the hair and silver shiny makeup.

Sadly, the brand was discontinued in 2003. It was an abrupt end to the era where every other person in a techno club was decked out in 2041120. You can find pieces from resellers on GRAILED though right now.

Style of Clothing: Anti-Fashion, Avant-Garde, Punk Techno, Cyber Punk.
